New research from Finland shows that gut bacteria may prevent type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. Globally, type 2 diabetes was 4.7% in 1980 and 8.5% in 2014. In the US 29 million people have confirmed type 2 diabetes and 86 million have prediabetes.
