New evidence has surfaced showing that Covid infection combined with vaccination provides best protection. Researchers termed this “hybrid immunity”, which is immunity against Covid-19 through a combination of Covid infection as well as vaccination. Researcher measured immunity 1 year from Covid infection without vaccination or with vaccination. They defined immunity by staying out of hospitals and not having serious Covid complications. Here are their results.
Infection reduction by vaccination or by Covid infection
The following observations were obtained 12 months after various conditions.
- 95% lower risk of getting sick from Covid: These people had hybrid immunity from getting Covid and from having been vaccinated.
- 75% lower risk of getting sick from Covid: people who had a Covid infection one year earlier, but had no vaccination.
- 42% less likely to get sick with Covid: After two initial Covid shots and one Covid infection.
- 47% less likely to get sick with Covid 6 months followed by a booster vaccine.
- 25% less likely to get serious Covid infection 12 months following Covid infection, but with no previous vaccination.
These results were pooled from 19 different studies, which the authors combined for their review paper. The significant new finding is that a previous infection with Covid seems to boost the immune system for longer than several immune shots. However, the best immunity is achieved when hybrid immunity is present in the patient. This is achieved in those who have been vaccinated and who also had Covid infection. It seems that the antibody levels are much higher with a secondary immune response when compared to the primary immune response.
Vaccinations, Covid infections and vitamin supplementation stimulate immune system
Stimulation of our immune system by vaccinations and Covid infections are one thing. With the booster shot both antibody types (IgM and IgG) are produced giving the person who received it a stronger immune response and better Covid prevention. In some cases, the IgG antibody titer following a booster shot is 100-fold higher than after the baseline shot. This results in a much better prevention against the variants of Covid (less people getting breakthrough Covid, no deaths).
Fourteen supplements to stimulate the immune system
We need also 14 supplements to stimulate our immune system as I have reviewed before. One of the most important supplements to maintain a strong immune system is vitamin D. It would be wise for everybody to have their vitamin D blood levels checked. The best level for a strong immune system is the high normal level of 50–80 ng/mL (=125–200 nmol/L). But this is only one of 14 supplements that support the immune system. Well balanced nutrients and daily supplements can stimulate your immune system. It will also make sure that you get a good immune response with the vaccination program.
Conclusion
A new study determined that the strongest immune response occurs in patients who had a Covid infection and who also were fully vaccinated. This immune response was named hybrid immunity. However, I also pointed out that we need 14 supplements to mount a strong immune response, among which vitamin D3 supplementation is the most important. With respect to vaccinations, you are definitely better off than if you do not get vaccinated. But having had no vaccination makes you very vulnerable to getting a severe case of Covid infection. Your best bet is to have a full vaccination program and getting a Covid infection, which will be mild. With this hybrid immunity you get a super stimulation of your immune system, which protects you to 95% for the course of one year.
Cautionary note
As a cautionary note: do NOT expose yourself to Covid! Thinking that getting infected is a good idea for “for better protection” can be getting you into serious trouble. Covid infections can be life threatening, and nobody can predict, whether the illness will take a serious course and even cause “long Covid”, which leaves the patient with chronic health problems. It is an illness that has to be taken seriously.
